DS1302N is a stand-alone real-time clock/calendar with battery-backup and non-volatile RAM. It keeps time (seconds, minutes, hours, date, month, day-of-week, year) and provides 56 bytes of NV RAM for data storage. It uses a simple 3-wire serial interface (CE, SCLK, I/O), not I2C or SPI, and can be powered from main supply (2–5.5 V) or a backup VBAT when power is off. It includes a 32.768 kHz oscillator and a trickle-charge circuit to charge a backup battery from the main supply. Time values are stored in BCD and support 12- or 24-hour formats; a clock-halt bit in seconds can stop the clock for debugging. Read/write operations are done via an address/data protocol.
